The CV

CV TOP TIPS

A CV summarises your skills and experience, giving you the chance to show an employer what you are capable of.
Employers will usually ask for a copy of your CV at some point in the recruitment process, so it is a good idea to keep it up to date.
A good CV will help you to stand out from the crowd and get you a job interview.

Most employers will read your CV before deciding whether to interview you for a job.

When you write one, you're highlighting all your great qualities into one easy to read document and you should include:

  • - basic details like your full name and contact details
  • - your qualifications
  • - your skills
  • - any work experience you have
  • - your hobbies or passions

Usually, your CV will be supported by a personal statement and a cover letter.

Getting Started

It isn't always easy knowing where to start with writing your CV. Before you start typing it out, it is a good idea to reflect on everything that you have achieved. Include any area of your life where you have developed skills, for example, work experience, a summer job, volunteering, school, college, club or team sports.
