Presented by Developing the Young Workforce Dumfries and Galloway, the region’s largest Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic and Digital fair for young people returns to Easterbrook Hall on the Crichton Grounds in Dumfries on Wednesday, 24th May.
Following the success of the previous events, we are delighted to be able once again to have invited the regions secondary schools to this prestigious day where pupils from S1/2/3 can interact with over 40 businesses and organisations from across not just the region, but the country, and take part in various interactive workshops! Amongst the businesses taking part - Brown Brothers, Kirkcudbright’s Dark Space Planetarium, Cochran’s, Dumfries Aviation Museum, Battle Stations, Genesis OHS, 33 Air Solutions, Langholm’s Creation Mill CIC and out of region businesses including Morgan Sindall, The Code Show, Vattenfall, National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, Intelligent Growth Solutions, Ventient Energy and BGDG sponsors, Scottish Power. SUMMER WITH THE CAIRNDALE HOTEL As part of our continuing projects with the Management team, DYWDG and THE CAIRNDALE HOTEL are delighted to be able to offer this exciting summer opportunity to students as part of our ongoing #BeourGuest work ready project. Based and working at the renowned hotel and events venue, we are able give interested 16-24 year olds the chance of work experience within the hotel gaining vital, transferable experience in a range of roles including; Reception Kitchen Housekeeping Restaurant Back office Gym and Leisure And more! The opportunities will take place (initially) over weekends and candidates will be paid. INTERESTED? SUMMER WITH QUEEN OF THE SOUTH FC Based and working at Queen of the South FC, we are able give interested pupils the chance of work experience within the club and gain vital experience in a range of roles including; Football coaching The Foodhub service Hospitality Turnstile entry Shadow gym work The Club shop Football 5 aside customer service Sales of programmes and more. We are also able to offer Barista and customer service work experience as part of this project thanks to the new café, ‘Snaq’. These opportunities are open to anyone 16-24 years old. THIS IS NOT A PAID OPPORTUNITY. This is a great example of how Local organisations such as Queen of the South and DYW Dumfries and Galloway are working together to improve the prospects of our young people.
